There's peace in finding your identity.

This has been a post that I have contemplated releasing for a few weeks. I believe the way things are presented to us, the idea of getting whatever we want at the click of a button, searching on our smart phones, etc… We struggle with our own identity. This is a topic that’s not discussed as much as it should be, in my opinion. As I took time to think and reflect on the topic, I understood the reason why it isn’t spoken about much in today’s society.

Too many times, we look at how society views people, instead of how we want to view ourselves. Growing up this was something that I struggled with for a few years. However, did you know that you are unique? With that being said, begin to find your identity. If we continue to chase what society deems as acceptable, we’ll never find ourselves. Yes, I know fashion trends and things like that are cool to keep up to date with, and I don’t disagree with you there. Today, my challenge is much deeper. Are you currently trying to be something that you’re not even sure about? Do you feel like every time you finally catch up with society’s standards, something changes? I’ve been there before, but let me share something with you: There’s peace in finding your identity. There’s joy in that journey as well.

My challenge to you this week is to look in the mirror and list what identifies who you are. This is much larger than creating a superficial list. Superficial qualities come and go, so begin to look deeper. For this challenge, we are putting the physical factors aside. Life is about mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical growth. I challenge you to begin to identify with those areas in your life.

I want you to experience all that life has to offer. I want you to define success – your way. I want you to start embracing being unique. There are already enough copycats. Your path, your goals, your plans are different from others. Don’t get caught up in comparing your life to others. Focus on your journey. Focus on finding your identity.
